Department Overview
About the Department
The Vocational Training and Enterprises Support Department (TVET) is a core pillar of the Sidaama Region Labor and Skills Bureau. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between technical competence and sustainable livelihoods. Through demand-driven vocational programs, modern workshops, and incubation systems, we prepare youth, women, and entrepreneurs with industry-relevant skills while strengthening micro and small enterprises across the region.
Our approach integrates formal TVET institutions, informal apprenticeship systems, and enterprise development services, ensuring that trainees not only gain certifications but also create jobs or secure decent employment. With strong partnerships with the private sector, we foster innovation, productivity, and regional economic transformation.
The TVET Department currently oversees 12 public TVET colleges, 27 accredited private vocational centers, and has supported over 4,200 micro-enterprises in the last fiscal year. Our goal is to achieve 75% graduate employment or self-employment rate within 12 months of completion.
